Viva Magenta: Pantone’s Colour of the Year

Introducing Pantone’s 2023 Colour of the Year – PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta – A nuanced crimson red tone that is powerful but not overwhelming.

A deep red tone that walks the line between warm and cool toned, this colour is a vibrant, multifaceted shade that will be the centre of many trends in the coming new year. From interior design, to branding, to art, Viva Magenta will influence a host of creative decisions in every industry.

A shift from the cooler-toned Veri Peri of 2022, Pantone describes this new shade as “powerful and empowering”…”an animated red that encourages experimentation and self-expression without restraint” and intends to promote optimism and joy with this dynamic colour. The aim for the shade is to “explores the dynamism between Artificial Intelligence and human creativity to create “The Magentaverse” according to Pantone. This runs in conjunction with the collaboration between Pantone and ARTECHOUSE, who are hosting an art exhibition in Miami starting December 3rd.

You can be sure that Viva Magenta will be present within the stationery industry in the new year, whether it be the shade for a new range of notebooks, a focal colour for the arts & crafts sector, or a pop of colour for emerging/rebranding companies. Keep your eyes peeled for this “unconventional” shade, “capable of creating a more positive future”.

We collated a few stand-out stationery products that have already featured this evocative red:
