StationeryNews.net caught up with Lawrence Savage, marketing manager of ExaClair, following its win of the Sustainable Product of the Year Award at this year’s Stationery Awards. Read on to find out what he loved about London Stationery Show 2024 and what we can expect to see from ExaClair in 2025.
The Stationery Awards took place at London Stationery Show. Overall, how was the show for you?
We always enjoy exhibiting at the show and felt that this year was particularly busy, so it was great to catch up with so many industry colleagues and customers alike!
What was your highlight from the show?
Apart from the award win I’d have to say seeing our National Account Manager Glenn Bowen welcoming Theo Paphitis onto the stand. It was fantastic to see him getting so enthusiastic about our Exacompta filing products.
How did it feel to win at the Stationery Awards?
Personally, it felt good to win the Sustainable Product of the Year Award, but overall, it’s a testament to the hard work and innovation of all the people who drive this company.

What do you think set your product apart from the rest of the finalists?
The win was special to us as it was a particularly tough category, with many superb finalists competing for the accolade. I’d say it probably came down to our Clairefontaine Bamboo watercolour pad entry demonstrating a different stance to utilising sustainable materials.
What made you enter the Stationery Awards?
I’m a competitive individual anyway, but the awards can act as a great tool to showcase and effectively communicate new product launches across the sector.
Can you give us an overview of your top three products from the show?
Our new Exacompta range of Neo Deco desktop accessories and filing created a lot of interest with its unique, Art Deco inspired designs that bring the classic 1920’s spirit to the workplace.
Thanks to some popular workshops, professional artist Nikki Killinger also generated a lot of engagement with our selection of Cernit clay products.
Moulin Rouge, which is one of the latest Clairefontaine stationery collections, also produced much interest with those visiting our stand during the show.

What is one piece of advice you’d give to stationers planning on entering the Stationery Awards in the future?
With so many quality products across the awards, take your time to choose which category your product best correlates with, then keep your fingers crossed.
What is your goal for the year ahead?
We’ve got a lot of exciting new products coming soon, so we’re looking forward to sharing these later on this autumn.
