Online office supplies retailer Cartridge People, has launched a photography competition to encourage people to keep physical copies of their photos.
The Memories Through the Lens competition will run from August 1 – 29 to help promote World Photography Day on August 15 and encourage budding creatives to showcase their work.
According to Epson, only 2% of photos stored on phones are printed and displayed, with most of them gathering dust in digital albums. Behind every photo is a great story, and printing photos is a simple process that can help cherish favourite moments even more. Cartridge People want to encourage people to keep physical copies of their treasured memories and find creative ways to display them.
To help, Cartridge People is creating a series of content aimed at inspiring people to do more with their photos, from advice on restoring old images, to offering photography tips and how to print from different devices.
“With the summer holidays now in full swing, we wanted to encourage people to find creative ways to store and display their summer memories,” said Nicky Bendall, marketing campaign manager at Cartridge People. “Our campaign hopes to get people to stop living only through their phones and find ways to relive the moments that mean the most to them, whether it’s by creating memory boards, scrapbooks or simply displaying them throughout the house.”
The winner of the competition will receive a Polaroid photography bundle worth £200, and will be featured in print in a local magazine, along with Cartridge People’s blog and social media channels.
Entries will be judged by in-house photographer Ilias Kounenis, who will evaluate entries based on creativity and originality, relevance to the theme, technical quality and the emotional impact of the photos. The winner will be announced officially on 4 September, on Cartridge People’s social media channels and website.
