New Collection From The Completist Draws Inspo From South Korea And Japan

The latest stationery drop from London-based design studio channels the East with curved architectural lines, hazy shots of soju, playful colourways and retro magnetism.

The Completist was launched in 2018 by Jana Starcevic from a small London apartment, after years honing design skills at luxury fashion houses. It quickly expanded from design-led prints to fashion-led stationery… and it grew from there.

Today, The Completist products are available in 24 countries worldwide and can be found in institutions such as The Barbican Centre and global retailers including Anthropologie.

“Our bi-annual collection releases are inspired by anything that gives us a dopamine rush – anything from a 1996 Dries Van Noten runway show, to 1960s Saul Bass movie posters,” says Jana. “This latest collection is inspired by a recent trip to South Korea and Japan.”

Aside from the fact that Jana and husband, Marko came back from their trip with 15kg of stationery, “what really stood out was a much stronger culture of buying stationery for the love of it,” says Jana. “Of course, there’s so many amazing tools and gadgets you’ve never even dreamed of, but what really spoke to me was stationery, and notebooks in particular existing as a thing to be cherished and decorated. It could be considered decorative journaling in a way, but the pure love of stationery has inspired the reworking of all our sticker and washi offering. I definitely rediscovered the joy of buying stationery ‘just because’, and we’ve definitely channeled that love into our new products.”

The new collection includes classic planners, notebooks and cards and for this season “we’ve also added habit tracker bookmarks, Japanese-style gift bags and completely refreshed our range of stickers, sticky notes, washi and 3D printed bookmarks,” says Jana.
