The luxury Maison introduces a new streamlined filling mechanism featured exclusively in the Meisterstück Traveller Limited Edition 1924.
Montblanc has developed a new fountain pen filling mechanism that allows easy filling through the writing instrument’s barrel with one simple push. Featured in the Meisterstück Traveller Limited Edition 1924, the innovation comes as Montblanc marks the 100th anniversary of its renowned writing icon, the Meisterstück.
Since its early writing instruments, Montblanc has continued to evolve its ink filling system, with the piston filler being the dominant technology for the past 90 years. In development by Montblanc engineers for five years, the revolutionary traveller mechanism draws ink into double tanks through the cone instead of the nib, breaking new ground in ink capacity and filling speed, its name also representing the ease with which the mechanism can be operated while on-the-go. The twin tanks increase the ink reservoir capacity for twice as long as a conventional Meisterstück.
“Montblanc has always focused on evolving the writing experience through technological ingenuity and creative vision, applying its innovations to addressing any challenge associated with the act of writing. As more and more people re-discover the joy of writing by hand, it was time to explore a different way to fill the writing instrument that was even more simple, and would offer new benefits such as delivering longer writing time while remaining leak-free. Going from a turning mechanism to a push mechanism is a significant evolution, breaking new ground in the culture of writing just as our legendary Meisterstück did one hundred years ago,” says Laurent Lecamp, global managing director Montblanc watches and writing instruments.
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of its iconic Meisterstück writing instrument, Montblanc is opening a pop-up kiosk from 12 October until 20 October at Duke of York Square, London offering visitors the opportunity to learn more about the art of writing, to re-discover the joy of handwriting and to celebrate the centenary of an icon.
Inside the kiosk a writing bar takes centre stage, inviting guests to hand write postcards to their loved ones, which Montblanc will post complimentary in the hope to inspire everyone to put pen to paper.
Throughout the duration of the pop-up, visitors can experience a series of activities such as; writing, poetry, and graphology.
