Makers Cabinet has designed an elegant and functional ruler in cm and inches that fits into your pocket – ideal for those who need to sketch, draw and measure whilst on the move. It also lays perfectly tight and flat on the page with its dovetail hinge, that’s flexible enough to use on various sized paper.
Makers Cabinet are an aspiring young team of three international designers based in the UK, who have already disrupted the stationery market with their first range of products. The trio are cleverly reinventing traditional designs combining the best of an analogue and digital world. Their inspiration comes from wanting to design products that are the very antithesis of disposable culture.
Their precision stationery tools are aimed at those with a passion for design and craftsmanship, from architects and interior designers to precision draftsman and students in creative industries, professional artists, plus those who simply take pleasure in drawing.
Their latest design, the innovative Stria, is an elegant and functional folding ruler that fits into pockets and perfectly on the page. Available in solid brass or steel, the 15cm ruler folds out to 30cm, which is particularly useful for architects, designers and artists who need to quickly and flawlessly record ideas on site. It features an innovative haptic click mechanism, which indicates when the arm reaches 45°, 90°, and 135° and it’s also suitable for cutting against.
“For us, it’s very much the analogue joy of the design process where you’re fleshing out ideas and sketching freehand” said Head of Product, Odin Ardagh. “It’s more about getting a free flow of ideas and having tools that you enjoy using. Our passion pushes us to rethink the tools we use every day, design to perfection, and deliver excellence.”
Stria is launching on Kickstarter on 11 August 2020. To find out more visit www.makerscabinet.com.
