Letters Live returned to London’s Royal Albert Hall for a one-off show in aid of the RNLI on Thursday 12 December. This show was the seventh Letters Live show at this iconic venue and was the last one in the year-long sponsorship deal with Montblanc.
Letters Live celebrates the timeless art of letter writing and its importance as a means of communication and expression. Each show always features a completely different array of great performers, reading remarkable letters written over the centuries and from around the world.
At the event last Thursday (12 December), a star-studded lineup, including Alan Carr, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jameela Jamil, Grace Campbell, Ian Wright, Ian McShane, Asim Chaudhry, Geri Halliwell, Lolly Adefope, Louise Brealey, Matt Berry, Richard Ayoade, and many more read out loud a wide variety of letters.
As well as celebrating the pain, joy, wisdom and humour expressed in letters, Letters Live has from the outset been committed to promoting literacy and to fund-raising for literacy charities.
“Montblanc and Letters Live concluded their year-long celebrations by returning to the Royal Albert Hall for a magical night filled with unforgettable readings,” Montblanc wrote on its Linkedin page. “This year’s partnership was particularly meaningful as the maison celebrated its iconic Meisterstück’s 100th anniversary, making it a fitting finale to a year dedicated to honoring the art of putting pen to paper.”
