Facer Printers Debuts Plastic-free Solution For Pen Packaging

The Leeds-based manufacturer will show its own-brand plastic-free solution for pen packaging at Packaging Innovations in Birmingham on 12-13 February.

At last year’s Packaging Innovations trade show, Facer was awarded a top 10 position in the Innovation Gallery with its plastic-free blister pack created in collaboration with Mitsubishi Pencil Company UK Ltd for its Uni-Ball brand.

This year the company is entering its own-brand plastic-free blister pack in the Innovation Gallery. The all-paper pack remains a heat-seal solution that utilises the same packing processes and machinery of conventional blister packs while retaining the benefits of this long-established packaging solution. The specially designed packaging achieves the shelf presence of a traditional blister-pack without compromising on sustainability and is a completely recyclable, mono-material solution.

Facer will also showcase an alternative to the plastic-free blister pack. It has combined a conventional tuck end folding carton with an extended back panel. It retains the size, the marketing real estate and still hangs by a euro slot. This will be exhibited alongside a variety of client packaging and folding cartons produced with alternative sustainable materials.
