Deck The Shop Windows

Forget about decking the halls, retailers around the country are getting into the Christmas spirit with some tinsel-tastic window displays.

Austin & Co, Malvern

Taking part in the Malvern Christmas window art trail again this year, which has a circus theme, owner Sean Austin wrote on Instagram: “The Christmas shop window is the most important one of the year and that’s why it’s been in planning since June. We’ve once again worked with the amazing and talented Jo Bonomini who has taken our original ideas from her sketchbook to the shop window perfectly. We couldn’t be happier with the results. A joyous riot of colour, humour and a little bit of glitter.”

Papersmiths, Chelsea and Brighton Papersmiths has collaborated with Brighton artist, Alice Humphreys, known for her bold, colourful murals, animations, and graphics. Alice loves playful design, so her festive, hand-painted murals feel right at home on the Brighton and Chelsea shop windows. Alice has also designed a range of gift wrap which is available in store and online.

Jespers of Harrogate Over the span of three days Christian Alexander Bailey transformed the shop window at Jespers into a roar-some piece of artwork. It was the first time Christian had drawn on a window, which is nearly 2m high and about 3m wide. “This was a chance to do something fun, just for the sake of it,” said Christian. “This reminds me of being a boy and the unparalleled joy of dinosaurs. Books, toys, films, animations, the amazing work of Ray Harryhausen, all this coupled with the unbridled imagination of youth. I still love dinosaurs and this is a homage to them and the happiness associated with them.”

Stationery Supplies, Marple Owner Sarah Laker was told: ‘Why don’t you make a pencil Christmas tree’ by a friend when she said she was struggling for her Christmas window idea. “I was looking for a simple idea that wouldn’t take long…..but of course once that seed was planted I had to make one, and then it needed baubles, and presents, and before I knew it many hours of creating had passed,” said Sarah.

Write Here, Shrewbury

Write Here’s festive window is a collaboration with artist Cherie Jerrard, featuring her PENguins. Matching Christmas cards are also available to buy in store along with many other wonderful festive designs.

Pencil Me In, Elgin It was Claire’s turn to decorate Pencil Me In’s shop door for Christmas, so she grabbed the Posca pens and created a wonderful wintry signpost (in between customers coming and going!)
