After introducing the first writing instruments under the new Tom Hessin brand in autumn, Manuscript has now launched a dedicated website to the new brand.
Hessin & Co was established by Andrew Charles in 1870, the year of the birth of his son, Thomas Hessin Charles. From 1870 business expanded into the manufacture of pens, nibs and sundry stationery supplies based at 68 Broad Street, Birmingham as well as sewing needles and fish hooks, based in Redditch. The company ceased trading in 1938 and became part of the Highley Pens Ltd Group, owned by the Stockbridge family – owners of Manuscript Pen Company.
“Andrew Charles was the first generation of our family in the global pen trade,” says Charlie Stockbridge, managing director at Manuscript Pen Company and the fifth generation of the family involved in the pen industry. “It is so fulfilling to have re-launched the Hessin brand, named after the first business he launched in 1870 called T. Hessin & Co.”
The new website www.tomhessin.com is now live.
The Charles Collection is the first range under the new Tom Hessin branding. “We are thrilled to introduce the Charles Collection, by Tom Hessin, to our customers,” said Charlie. “These pens are a celebration of heritage, but they also represent the future of fine writing instruments. They are designed for anyone who values both style and substance, whether for professional use, creative endeavours, or simply enjoying the art of writing. 2025 will see many more products added to the portfolio.”
