Retro 51 Supports Stationery Store In North Carolina Wiped Out By Hurricane Helene

Proceeds from the sale of a special Tornado pen will go to Origami Ink, a stationery store in Asheville, North Carolina that was destroyed by Hurricane Helene at the end of September.

Owners of Origami Ink, Jonathan and Cathie Robbins wrote on their website: “Our physical store in Biltmore Village has been completely destroyed. It’s been devastating for us and has been emotionally hard to process or even get our minds around. The flood waters basically swirled all the way to the ceilings, literally smashing everything to bits and leaving everything coated in toxic mud.”

Retro 51 are launching the Origami Hopping Frogs Tornado pen, from which 100% of the proceeds will be donated to help Origami Ink rebuild from Hurricane Helene.

Over twenty years ago, before Origami Ink opened shop, the owners Jonathan and Cathie bought a framed art piece for their home that featured an origami frog. They loved this piece so much that it led to the name of their shop in Asheville and still hangs in their house to this day.

Each pen is printed with origami hopping frogs, finished with a gloss varnish and polished chrome accents. The pen will be packaged in a matching tube and include instructions on how to make your own origami hopping frog. Although these are not numbered, this is a one-time order opportunity and will be limited to the quantity on order.

Retro 51 have reached out to Mann Inc to help with this great cause by making the Origami Hopping Frogs rollerball pen available in the UK.
