EnerGel Kawaii Brings Summer Success For Pentel

Japanese snacks is the latest theme in the limited edition EnerGel Kawaii pens from Pentel which are proving to be a huge success, with positive reaction across social media from customers.

‘Kawaii’ means ‘cute’ and this collection of six pens really lives up to its name.  The designs are:

  • Takoyaki – fluffy bites of a ball-shaped snack that usually features minced octopus tempura, pickled ginger and onion in batter and served with a sauce.
  • Kakigori – a shaved ice dessert flavoured with syrup, perfect for a hot summer’s day.
  • Dango – a Japanese dumpling made with rice flour and served on a skewer and usually eaten seasonally.Pentel’s Dango design celebrates the colours of cherry blossom season:  green, white and pink.
  • Mochi – one of the most popular Japanese treats, Mochi are chewy bites made with rice and can be sweet or savoury.
  • Taiyaki – an iconic Japanese fish-shaped cake often filled with red bean paste, custard or matcha.(Sea bream, which is ‘Tai’ in Japanese is considered to be a good luck charm.)
  • Bento – the well-known Japanese lunch boxes that include a variety of vegetables, rice, egg and meat.

Wendy Vickery, Pentel marketing manager, says, “EnerGel Kawaii is supplied in a specially designed 72-piece display, which supports the Japanese snacks theme beautifully.  It’s bound to attract a lot of consumer attention, particularly at back to school time.”

The new collection is going well for Sarah Laker, owner of Stationery Supplies, with stores in Wilmslow, Cheshire and Marple, Greater Manchester. “I messaged one of my customers who is a huge EnerGel fan after I’d unpacked the box and she arrived half an hour later to buy one of each. There’s been a lot of interest and sales are steady. I love the CDU. I think it is bang on trend and really eye-catching.”

Wendy says it is great to receive such positive feedback from customers. “We think this year’s EnerGel Kawaii collection will be one of the most popular limited editions we’ve ever launched.”

In common with most of the EnerGel range the EnerGel Kawaii pens can be refilled – so there’s no need to throw away a favourite design when the quick-drying, smudge-reducing ink has run out.  Supplied in a 0.5mm tip size the collection is perfect for notes, cards, messages, or an irresistible item to keep in a bag, pencil case or pocket.
