Kaweco Unveils Piston Filler Fountain Pen

The distinguished German brand renowned for its premium writing instruments, has launched the much-anticipated Kaweco AL Sport Piston Filler.

After many years of development, Kaweco has perfected its iconic Sport model as a piston filler. It is available to pre-order from retailers now, and officially launches on 28 March 2024.

The Kaweco Sport was first designed in 1911 as a pocket fountain pen which could be carried everywhere. It featured an oversized cap which, when posted, turned a small pocket pen into a full-sized pen for writing. In 1937, the Kaweco Sport fountain pen was first presented as a piston filler under the name #612, and it has been further developed in many different versions over the years.

Michael Gutberlet, ceo of Kaweco says: “For more than 10 years I was hoping to bring the piston filler Sport back to life, so this is a dream come true. I have a new favourite in my pocket.“

The Kaweco AL Sport Piston Filler boasts a compact yet efficient design, capable of holding approximately 1ml of ink. Unlike cartridge-based systems, piston fillers offer users a virtually limitless array of ink choices, as many premium inks are exclusively available in bottles. Refilling is easy, thanks to the smooth operation of the piston mechanism, while a transparent ink window ensures constant visibility of ink levels.

The Kaweco AL Sport Piston Filler is available either as a ready-to-use starter set, complete with a 32ml bottle of Royal Blue ink, or on its own. It is presented in an unusual round nostalgic Kaweco tin, which also features a place to stand the pen upright on your desk.
