Working from Home Product of the Year Winner – Once Upon a Tuesday

We caught up with Stationery Matters Award Winners, Once Upon a Tuesday. Read below to find out about their experience at London Stationery Show 2023, and their journey to becoming award winners.

The Stationery Matters Awards took place at London Stationery Show. Overall, how was the show for you?

We had a great show – it was our second year and we learnt a huge amount since our first time there – on which products worked well for retail and which less so and gaps in our assortment. We had so many positive responses from major and independent buyers, which was a real boost.

What was your highlight from the show?

Feedback from buyers is great. We sit in our studio most of the time, where we don’t interact with customers directly, so it’s great getting that face-to-face time.

How did it feel to win at the Stationery Matters Awards?

So great to be recognised for our hard work by people in the industry, we feel humbled and honoured.

What do you think set your product apart from the rest of the finalists?

Our winning product, the daily rainbow block pad, was designed with real intention. It was designed as a solution for a problem we wanted to solve for ourselves, and I believe those are the best products, that come from a real need and provide a true solution, not simply commercial motivation. We also considered our environmental impact in the process, which meant its printed on 100% recycled paper, here in the UK.

I hope the passion and thought that went into it led to the win.

What made you enter the Stationery Matters Awards? What made you believe you could win?

We don’t often enter awards, but feel stationery is where our passion lies, it’s what we live and breathe every day – so even the chance of recognition from our peers is a brilliant opportunity.

Can you give us an overview of your top three products from the show?

Our new collection of 2024 Diaries was the main attraction, it was our first collection, and the feedback was incredible.

What is one piece of advice you’d give to stationers planning on entering the Stationery Matters Awards in the future?

If you have created something that your customers love, you have proof of concept – that is the most important thing. If that product has a strong story behind it, give the awards a go!

What is your goal for the year ahead?

We are a small but ambitious team with many goals. We’re working on innovation in our products, designs and materials. We have submitted to become Corp certified, so we’re hoping to achieve that in the next months.
